The Ouzoud falls drop about 110 metres, in three main tiers, into the gorge of the El Abid river, 36 km from Azilal. Olive groves surround the site, and its Amazigh name is said to refer to grinding grain. A laid-out path leads down to the pool, where small boats take visitors close to the falls; cafés and restaurants line the way. Barbary macaques are often around and must not be fed. It is one of the most popular day trips from Beni Mellal, Azilal and Marrakech, and easy to combine with Bin el Ouidane lake.
