Bin el Ouidane Lake
A large turquoise lake among the mountains, an hour from Beni Mellal
AI-generated illustration
Bin el Ouidane lake formed behind a dam about 133 metres high, commissioned in 1953 on the El Abid river. It covers some 37 km² between limestone cliffs and wooded hills, with coves and peninsulas that can look like a fjord. An hour from Beni Mellal and half an hour from Azilal, it is one of the region's favourite outings: kayaking, paddleboarding, boat trips and walks along the shores. The water level depends heavily on rainfall: very low during the 2025 drought, the lake was almost full in spring 2026.
