The dirham

The currency is the Moroccan dirham (MAD). You obtain dirhams locally: licensed exchange offices, banks or ATMs.

Card or cash?

Cards are accepted in hotels and modern shops; souks, taxis and small places run on cash.

Tipping

About 10% at restaurants, a few dirhams for porters and attendants, and a tip for guides and drivers.

Before leaving

Keep your exchange receipts: they make it easier to convert leftover dirhams at the airport.
