Oualidia
A calm lagoon, oysters and birds, between El Jadida and Safi
AI-generated illustration
Oualidia is a small fishing village on a lagoon about twelve kilometres long, sheltered by cliffs and connected to the ocean by two channels. The water is much calmer than on the nearby Atlantic coast, which makes it popular with families. The village is also known for its oysters, farmed in the lagoon since the 1950s, and for its birds: the lagoon is a protected area and a migration stopover, with flamingos, herons and spoonbills in winter. Allow about two hours' drive from Casablanca.
