Morocco's desert is more than the dunes of Merzouga. The road of kasbahs runs through Ouarzazate, the Draa Valley leads to Zagora and the Erg Chigaga dunes, and in the far south, around Laayoune and Dakhla, the desert meets the Atlantic.
How many nights
One night is enough for the experience; two nights give you a full day in the dunes, which makes up for the long drive.
When to go
March to April and October to November. Summer is extreme; winter nights are very cold.
