Mediterranean Morocco

From Tangier to Saïdia: coves, Rif mountains and Andalusian towns

Morocco's Mediterranean coast runs from the Strait of Gibraltar to the Algerian border. It is less known to international travellers than Marrakech or the Sahara, yet it has Andalusian medinas, coves at the foot of the Rif, a large lagoon at Nador and one of the country's longest beaches at Saïdia.

How to travel it

The Mediterranean coast road runs from Tetouan to Nador. It is slow but very scenic: plan several stops rather than one long day. Airports at Tangier, Tetouan, Al Hoceima, Nador and Oujda let you start or finish at different points.

When to go

June to September for the beach; May and October for hiking and quieter roads.
